Loeum Lorn

Loeum Lorn was born in 1983 in Battambang and studied there at Phare Ponleu Selpak Visual art school.

The fate of his artistic career took a turn at 12 years old when the threat of an armed conflict left him with a glacial memory. The intense cold both physical and mental led him to discover ice and then pushed to use it as the primary medium.

His work evolved with the discovery of Vipassana meditation which is closely linked to his art.

By dropping color on the ice, he observes their encounter and offers us moments through his photos: shapes arise, disappear, transform, in a perputual flow.

Loeum Lorn thus highlights the law of impermanence and the laws of nature that govern everyone.

Created in 2018, Loeum Lorn’s gallery aims at bringing to light and sharing his vision of meditation.

This place intends to offer to the Cambodian and foreign public a new idea of art and initiate a process of change of mindsets.
